The signing ceremony of Wudang Kung Fu show ——“Wudang—Tai Chi and Dao” was held at Shanghai Expo Board on October 29th, which marked that Wudang Kung Fu has formally entered into Shanghai World Expo. The visitors will enjoy a big “Tai Chi” Kung Fu feast in the Expo site.

 

Before the singing ceremony, Hong Hao, the deputy secretary-general of Shanghai government and also the director general of Shanghai Expo Board, met the Wudang Taoist Association president Li Guangfu. Hong Hao said that the subject of Wudang Kung Fu is very attractive, and they thank Wudang for offering the great support to Shanghai World Expo. As is known to all, Wudang culture plays a very important role in China. The appearance of Wudang Kung Fu in the World Expo will help people to know Wudang further.

 

Hu Jingjun, the deputy director general of Shanghai World Expo and Li Guangfu singed the contract on behalf of both sides. Hu Jingjun introduced that “Wudang ---Tai Chi and Dao”, which is made up by Wudang Taoism Kung Fu Mission will be shown on Shanghai Expo with 3 shows everyday and 276 shows in total from July to September in 2010.

 

Wudang kung Fu, which has a civilization history of several thousand years, is China's national and non-material cultural heritage. The purpose of showing “Wudang—Tai Chi and Dao” is not only to show Wudang Kung Fu, develop the national culture and spirit, but also to let more and more people learn and value the mysterious Taoist culture.

 

Wudang is the Taoist holy land of China, the cradle of Tai Chi as well as world’s cultural heritage with 2500 years’ history. According to reports, the programme line-up combines with Taoism etiquette, and through showing Wudang Taoist traditional kung fu, Taoist health qigong to interpret Chinese Taoism culture. The kung fu performance consists of three parts: “Morning Practice in the Purple Heaven Palace”, “Tai Chi comes from Wudang” and “Wu Chi produced tai chi”. There will be about 60 kung fu performers and the average age of these Kung Fu elites is 20. All sorts of tai chi movements will be presented to the audience in different ways, such as tai chi boxing, tai chi sword, kung fu fan, eight immortal cudgel, eight diagrams palms, Wudang taiyi five element boxing etc.
